Cream of the Crop – Fall River’s Best and Brightest, by Westport’s John B. “Red” Cummings Jr., will be taught as part of the Fall River School Department Durfee High School History of Fall River class during the winter and spring terms beginning next month.
Some of those highlighted by the book have agreed to come and speak with the class. The students will also view a film, have an opportunity to meet with and question the author, Mr. Cummings, and the curator of the Fall River Historical Society, Michael Martins. The classes will be taught by Derek Farias and Jay Correia under the direction of Siobhan Ryan, director of federal projects for the school department.
The illustrated book provides mini-biographies of more than 260 individuals who received some education in the Spindle City and went on to become highly successful locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. This book can be purchased at local bookstores and gift shops in Greater Fall River or directly from the author at www.hillsidemedia.net
