Kenneth Pelletier of Westport said he doesn’t typically play instant lottery games, but while out to eat at Barcello’s Family Restaurant in Tiverton last Saturday, an Instant Ticket vending machine touting “$100,000 Cash” caught his eye every time his father shifted in his seat.
So he got up, bought a ticket — a scratch revealed that he’d just won $100,000.
Mr. Pelletier said he called his wife immediately from the Stafford Road restaurant to tell her that he’d won, but was so calm she didn’t believe him.
To celebrate the win, he bought a round of drinks for everyone in the bar, but he said his big plan for the money is to build an addition to their Westport house so that their two children can each have their own bedrooms.
And in Portsmouth …
Meanwhile, first-time lottery player Brendan Laprey of Middletown received instant tickets from his boss for Christmas. He won $6 with them and decided to buy a Price is Right instant ticket with his winnings.
That ticket revealed a $35,000 win — he said he plans to buy a new car and put the rest in savings.
He purchased the winning ticket at Melville Xtra Mart, 1568 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
